History
Reiki is an energy healing technique that originated in Japan in 1922 thanks to Mikao Usui, following a spiritual experience on Mount Kurama. It is based on channelling universal energy to promote well-being and self-healing. Spread to the West by Hawayo Takata, it is now practised all over the world.
How does it work?
Reiki works by transferring universal energy from the practitioner’s hands to the person receiving treatment. During a session, the Reiki practitioner gently places their hands on specific areas of the body (or holds them just above), with the intention of restoring energy balance and activating the body’s natural self-healing processes.
It is non-invasive, requires no tools or medication, and works on all levels of being — physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Reiki is suitable for people of all ages and can be integrated with other therapies or holistic practices. It is especially beneficial during times of change, stress, or difficulty, but also serves as a powerful tool for prevention and maintaining inner balance.
Distance Reiki
The healing energy of Reiki can be transmitted over distance, reaching people anywhere in the world — even without their physical presence. Distance Reiki is just as powerful as in-person sessions. Reiki can also be sent to specific situations, whether current or future, to help create a smoother path or support more positive outcomes. Additionally, it can be directed to the cause of a health issue or to specific areas of the body — for example, to relieve a headache.
